Understanding Japan’s cosmetic regulations

Japan is one of world’s leading markets for cosmetic products. Japanese Cosmetics are regulated under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Cosmetic regulation falls under two main categories: cosmetics and quasi drug. For cosmetic category; hair care, skin care, and makeup products can be given as examples. While for the quasi drugs category, deodorant products and oxidative hair dying products can be given as examples.
