Knowing your chemical compliance obligations in Taiwan

The main regulation of chemical management in Taiwan is the Toxic Chemicals and Concerned Substances Control Act (TCCSCA) amended in 2019 and came into force on January 1, 2020. Manufacturers or importers of substances have the obligations of Phase One registration and standard registration (if the substance is listed in the PEC list). In addition to TCCSCA, manufacturers or importers should also know if their substance is considered Priority Management Chemicals (PMC) in Taiwan. From April 1, 2022, those who handle PMCs are required to notify the Ministry of Labor of their activities in the previous year.

Topics to be covered:

• An overview of Chemical Management in Taiwan

• Phase one Registration and Standard Registration of 106 PECs

• Compliance obligations for those handling PMC

• Compliance strategies for companies
