Colombia enacted its chemical framework in 2021 via Decree 1630, becoming the second country in Latin America planning to implement a comprehensive chemical regulatory regime. Decree 1630 aims to advance sound chemical management through establishing a National Inventory of Chemical Substances, a chemical prioritization scheme, substance risk evaluation, and management programs. Decree 1630 also implements a Registry for Emission and Transfer of Contaminants (RETC) and a Toxicological Management System (SGT).
